Governing Board Recognition Award

The Governing Board of the Hemet Unified School District, on nomination by Trustee Eugene Hikel, has selected Eric Dahlstrom, Principal at Tahquitz High School, as the recipient of the Governing Board Recognition and Award.

Mr. Dahlstrom received his Bachelor’s degree in Geography from Aquinas College in 1998 and his Master’s in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University in June of 2005.  He will complete his Doctorate at Brandman University next year.  Eric taught and was an Assistant Principal in Michigan before coming to Hemet Unified in August 2006.

Eric began his career in HUSD as a teacher at Santa Fe Middle School.  He served as an Assistant Principal at Santa Fe Middle School and Rancho Viejo Middle School before becoming the Principal of Dartmouth Middle School in July 2011.  Eric has served as the Principal of Tahquitz High School since July 2016.

Eric is a great example of a servant leader; he models the way, he is thoughtful, reflective and willing to have courageous conversations with staff and students.  Eric led his site through a challenging start with grace and positivity.

Eric is always willing to lend a hand, from hosting the District Welcome Back Breakfast to last week’s Classified Professional Development days.  He goes above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome on his campus.

For outstanding performance, professionalism and loyalty to the Hemet Unified School District, Trustee Eugene Hikel presented Eric Dahlstrom with the Governing Board Recognition of Excellence Award and a $500 certificate to be used toward the District program of his choice.
